Restaurant Perho

The first on-the-job learning periods, during which support and guidance are particularly important, are taken at restaurant Perho or in the staff and student restaurant Herkku. In all study programmes there are 28 – 50 credits of on-the-job learning. There is co-operation with the industry throughout the studies, and it is ensured that the education corresponds with the professional requirements of the industry.

Teaching restaurant Perho

  • is the first on-the-job learning placement for the students
  • is a teaching restaurant that provides high-quality restaurant services and customer service, in service of the school’s educational purpose
  • aims for profitability

The students learn on-the-job under the guidance of professional teachers and other supervising staff in the restaurant dining room, restaurant for pre-ordered functions, and in the kitchen. The restaurant for pre-ordered functions is open on agreement and it has 100 customer seats. The restaurant has also a small brewery that the students can get acquainted with by choosing a course on brewing.

On-the-job learning periods outside the school are taken in restaurants and hotels with which Helsinki Culinary School Perho has made a written contract. The students are guided by trained work place supervisors.
