

Helsinki Culinary School Perho is a pioneer in promoting professional skills in Finland and well-known in Europe for its high-quality operations in vocational education.
Perho educates restaurant cooks, waitresses and hotel receptionists for the hotel and restaurant industry. Students can also take double qualifications: restaurant cook plus general upper secondary school qualifications. The language of tuition in the Restaurant Cook Study Programme and in the Restaurant Waiter Study Programme is English.
The teaching restaurant Perho is the first on-the-job learning placement for the students.The Perho students take on-the-job learning periods also in other Finnish and European partner companies.
Helsinki Culinary School Perho develops professional skills, know-how and learning in the hotel and restaurant industry and educates successful staff and management level professionals for the constantly changing working life. Helsinki Culinary School Perho enjoys good partnership contacts both in Finland and abroad.
The Perho Quality system guarantees that the results of the operations maintain a good standard and grow in a positive direction. Behind Perho’s success is a highly professional staff which has won the Southern Finland Province Governor’s Quality Prize in 1999 and two Quality Prizes for vocational education awarded by the Ministry of Education, in 2001 and 2004.
In developing our operations, we make use of feedback gathered from our students, staff and co-operative partners.
Internal development
The Perho Development Services include the Curriculum team, Quality team, International Affairs team, and Staff team. Our projects support our curriculum, high-quality operations and the development of staff and international affairs, and bring new expertise to the Development Services. The teams work in the best interest of the work community and assess the operations constantly, looking for future opportunities. The teams also brainstorm for new projects to support the school’s operations, and they implement the projects on the level of the curriculum, quality work, staff and International Affairs strategies. The person in charge of the Development Services is the project manager, whose task it is find suitable funding for the projects and to make sure that the results and products of the projects are adjusted for the use of the teams and the teaching staff.
Curriculum team
The Curriculum team assesses and develops the curriculum together with the whole staff. The team includes teachers of professional subjects.

Quality team
The Quality team is in charge of assessing
and developing the quality system. In accordance with the EFQM (European
Foundation for Quality Management) model described in the Perho Quality handbook,
the team keeps the targets of assessment and development up to date. The
Quality team is also responsible for organizing the internal and external
audits, and quality-related training for the staff.
